Summer Reading
Summertime at the library is filled with programs and activities for children and young adults. Make a Splash-READ! is the theme for young people, preschool through fifth grade, this summer at Iredell County Public Library. Set a goal and read books (or have books read to you) to earn prizes.
During the summer the children will explore the world of water through stories, songs, games and other activities about oceans, rivers, lakes, and pools and the creatures that live there.
Teens are invited to Make Waves @ Your Library this summer by participating in the Iredell County Public Library’s teen summer library program. Teens are invited to read for prizes as well as to take part in special events offered throughout the summer.
Young adults in middle and high school can register to attend these free events at the youth services desk of the Iredell County Public Library. Teens can also sign up to read a minimum of 300 pages or set their own goals. Those who succeed will receive a reading award and their names will be entered into a drawing for a grand prize.
How to Sign Up
Children aged 2 through 17 may register for a variety of programs. To register, stop by the library any time after June 6, fill out a form with your name, grade, and school, and pick up your summer reading packet.
Participants will receive a logbook to record the titles of books they read this summer and a calendar of events along with a bookmark, tattoos, stickers, and a Wet’nWild Emerald Pointe coupon. Decide how many books you plan to read this summer or how many minutes a day you will read, and sign a contract with the youth services staff to be eligible for prizes.
The library will be offering a variety of programs, giveaways and contests all summer, so pick up a list of events and drop in as often as possible. The library welcomes children and young adults of all abilities.
All summer library programs are free of charge and are sponsored by the State Library of North Carolina and the Iredell Friends of the Library.
