StorytimeThe Youth Services Department at the Iredell County Public Library wants as many children as possible to be able to attend storytimes at the library. The staff has rearranged the schedule to allow for evening storytimes once a month so children and parents who can’t make it to daytime programs will have a chance to take part.

The new schedule is:

  • Pre-School Storytimes are Wednesdays at 10:00 AM. These programs, filled with stories, action-rhymes, music, craft activities and more, are designed for children 3 to 5 years old. No prior sign-up is required. Younger siblings and friends are welcome to attend. A parent or caregiver must stay in the room.
  • PuppetsLap-Sit Storytimes are Thursdays and Fridays at 10:00 AM. These storytimes are recommended for our youngest group of listeners, from birth on up, and can include the whole family. Enjoy stories, music and fingerplays. These 20-minute active-participation programs are followed by puppet play.
  • School-Group Storytimes are designed for school groups and pre-registration is required. Group storytimes are held every Wednesday at 9:15 AM for ages 3 to 5 and every 1st and 3rd Wednesday at 1:00 PM for ages 5 and up. These storytimes consist of 30 minutes of stories, music and other activities. Teachers are encouraged to participate and join in the fun. .
  • NITEyNITE is for children who are unable to attend library storytimes during the day and for those who enjoy captivating stories at bedtime. Youngsters may wear pajamas and bring a stuffed “friend” to experience a variety of stories, songs, and other activities. Evening storytimes, designed for ages 3 to 7 are held every 2nd Tuesday at 7:00 PM. A parent or caregiver must stay in the room.

All programs are held in the meeting room in the Youth Services area of the library in Statesville. For more information about programs for children contact the Youth Services Department at 704-878-3097 or 704-878-3108.
