Library to close on Sundays starting in July

The Statesville Library will close on Sunday beginning in July. The remainder of the library’s schedule will not be affected. The library will be open Monday to Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Harmony and Troutman Branches will be closed on Mondays

The Harmony Library will close on Monday. The Harmony Library will be open Tuesday to Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The Troutman Library, which opened May 25, is also closed on Mondays. The Troutman Library is open Tuesday to Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6 p.m.

This change is due to the elimination of sixteen part-time positions in the 2010-11 Fiscal Year budget.

Two options were considered for reducing hours of operation; closing Sunday or closing weeknights. Based on figures for the number of persons using the library in the past year, closing weeknights would affect approximately 66,500 people while closing on Sundays would affect approximately 57,600 people.
